2016 Give Kids a Smile Day!

Evser Kid Deserves a Healthy SMILE!!

In April 2011,  we hosted an Arts-in- Dentistry Workshop during The American Dental Association’s Give Kids A Smile Day hosted at The University of Texas School of Dentistry located in Houston, Texas.  The American Dental Association (ADA) recognized that grassroots efforts has has helped to raise awareness about the importance of oral health to overall health, and about the staggering need that exists among millions of children who go without care.

Today, Give Kids A Smile is the ADA Foundation’s signature access to oral health care program for underserved children, with events taking place throughout the year. These events kick off annually on the first Friday in February, which is Give Kids A Smile Day. Thousands of dentists and volunteers give their time to provide free oral health education, screenings, and treatment to underserved children.

During our workshops young patients, family members, volunteer dental practioners and students volunteered to support this fun community based team building cause.  In the reception area, we engaged every willing participant to contribute a smile design by matching their smile to a word that represent the meaning behind their smile.  The end result was an original 30” x 30” original collage on canvas that depicts the message that everyone deserves a healthy smile!
