2013 Blingin' In Wellness with Shalom Health Ministries
It was All SMILES at The Shalom Health Ministries during the 2013 Shalom Goes Pink Day. In an effort to promote wellness, women gathered with Healing Artist, Rhonda Radford Adams to create a mannequin bodice adorned with rhinestones, semi-precious stones and other costume jewelry. This master piece was co-created with the hands-on support of the patients, family members, caregivers and staff attending this event. Shalom Goes Pink is a one-day event was held at Shalom Health Ministry Clinic which was sponsored by Pink Ribbons Project. The event provided breast cancer screening, education, awareness and spiritual enrichment to low income, uninsured women who live in Houston's East End and surrounding areas. Fifty women were screened for breast cancer in collaboration with The Rose and MD Anderson mobile mammography unit. This project conveyed the message of the importance of breast health, self-care and a positive attitude! This healing art collection will symbolize the female body as a precious work of art adorned with creativity and wellness.
