SMiLES for HUE! Growing Healthy Habits Together

SMILES for HUE at the Ennis Street Garden Crawl

On February 28, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, I’ll be hosting SMILES for HUE at Blackshear Elementary School (2900 Holman St., Houston, Tx 77004) as part of the Ennis Street Garden Crawl.

This event is part of the national Give Kids A Smile campaign, supported by the American Dental Association and Colgate, where dental professionals across the country focus on prevention and oral health education during National Children’s Dental Health Month.

As a dental hygienist, artist, and Smile Coach, I’ve always believed that healthy smiles begin long before brushing and flossing. They begin with awareness — especially awareness of what we choose to nourish our bodies with.

That belief is what inspired The Hot S.P.I.T. Chronicles, my children’s oral health book series that blends art and dentistry to make prevention creative, approachable, and empowering. What started as a book has grown into workshops, hands-on activities, and community outreach designed to inspire healthy habits from the inside out.

At SMILES for HUE, children will decorate their own flower pots, plant herbs, and learn how nutrition supports strong teeth and healthy gums. Growing something with their own hands helps them understand that care and consistency lead to results — just like brushing, flossing, and mindful eating.

This event also highlights the newest edition of The Hot S.P.I.T. Chronicles and the expanding vision behind it — bringing art, dentistry, and community partnerships together in meaningful ways.

I’m grateful to collaborate with grassroots partners like EriRene Farms, The Ennis Street Garden Crawl, and Blackshear Elementary School. When national campaigns and local leaders work together, education becomes experience — and experience creates lasting change.

The event is free and open to the public.

I hope you’ll join us as we plant seeds, spark conversations, and grow healthy habits together.
